Nova Scotia is making it easier for people to start careers in the skilled trades with a new investment in the construction industry. This effort focuses on three main areas to help more people learn about trades, get training, and find good jobs.
One major part of this plan is the new Cape Breton Trades Exhibition Centre. This hands-on learning space will let youth, community groups, and apprentices try out different trades and learn new skills. This centre will be the second of its kind in the province, adding to the existing centre in Halifax.
The province is also making it easier to start an apprenticeship. These programs give people a quicker and more direct way to begin working in a trade, helping to fill job openings in construction and related industries.
Another focus is helping people who are looking to change careers. Special programs will support underemployed workers, veterans, and newcomers to Canada as they learn the skills needed to succeed in trades. A group of industry leaders, unions, and employers will help guide this work to make sure the programs meet real needs and create strong job opportunities.
This investment is an important step in building a skilled workforce and creating more opportunities for Nova Scotians across the province.
