As we move into summer following the Canada Day weekend (yes, I know there was a Monday stuck in the middle), I first acknowledge that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. I wish everyone across Halifax Armdale a joyful, safe, and welcoming holiday.
We are living through unprecedented economic times. Inflation, housing pressures, and everyday costs are being aggravated by the rise of right-wing populism south of the border—led by Donald Trump—that too often pits neighbour against neighbour. In moments like this, coming together matters more than ever. When we pull together as communities, provinces, and as a country, we uphold the very values that make Canada worth celebrating.
Accountability Matters
Last week’s scathing report from Nova Scotia’s Auditor General pulled the curtain back on a government that prefers secrecy over transparency. A government that hides its priorities cannot hope to bring us together, and I will keep fighting for openness and accountability at Province House.
Recognizing Community Leadership
Each month, I’m proud to highlight the individuals and organizations that help make Halifax Armdale a better place to live. This month’s Community Group of the Month is the Club Inclusion. Club Inclusion brings people together to explore new opportunities and have fun with friends.
If you know a person or group whose contributions deserve recognition, I’d love to hear from you. Some of these stories may be featured in my email newsletter or recognized through a formal statement in the Legislature. You can share your nomination here.
Let’s stay in touch
My constituency office remains open and available to help with provincial services, questions, or support. I also encourage you to stay connected through this monthly newsletter and upcoming in-person events.
Thank you for the continued opportunity to serve Halifax Armdale.
